Perhaps the scarcest important book about this region (in 50 years of selling books in the Mohawk Valley, we've never before seen a copy), this is in fact a systematic photographic record of scenes of the river and of the cities and towns along it at the beginning of the 20th century. The excellent large photographs, presented one or two per 10.5 inch by 13.50 inch page, were presumably made by the anonymous person who also wrote some text for each volume; discovering that person's identity would not only be an interesting historical undertaking, but an act of justice to a talented photographer.
